MENS SOCCER DRAWS VS WEBBER INTERNATIONAL

BRADENTON, Fla. – New College Men's Soccer draws in a highly competitive match-up with Webber International.

New College men's soccer came away with a draw in the first match-up of the season facing a conference opponent.

While the match-up didn't count for either team's Sun Conference record, both team's intensity created a physical and entertaining environment.

The first half of the action was a midfield showcase, with both teams focusing on controlling the possession and negating the other's offensive opportunities. Webber and New College combined for a handful of shots in the first half, with the only on-goal attempt coming on a Warrior shot that New College goalkeeper Mathis Leveque corralled.

Both teams entered the halftime break with no goals on the board, but that would change in the second half.

The Mighty Banyans got the scoring started in the 64th minute. Matthew Dynarski found the back of the net after receiving a well-placed through ball from Andrew Scott. Dynarski capitalized on the pass, which pulled the Warrior goalie out of position and created the goal-scoring opportunity.

The Banyans lead would not last long. Webber International would knot the game at 1 in the 79th minute.

The Warriors captain Tyler Keating scored the tying goal off a set piece, taking a deflection off a Banyan defender and putting the ball outside the outstretched arms of Mathis Leveque.

With the score knotted, both team's intensity levels continued to rise.

Both teams combined for an impressive 11 shots on goal in the second half, with 4 shots on goal coming in the final 15 minutes of play. Neither team was able to find the back of the net, with the final whistle blowing and confirming the 1-1 draw.

Jalen Williams had an electric performance on the Banyan's backline. Following an injury on the game's opening kickoff, Williams' tenacity and technique was the driving force in the Banyans stellar defensive play.

Matthew Dynarski scored the Banyans lone goal.

The Banyans next game is on Sep, 14 at home vs No. 12 Keiser University.
