MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – New College of Florida men's basketball drops game to St. Thomas in heartbreaking fashion.
The Mighty Banyan men's basketball team traveled to Miami Gardens, Florida, for a conference match-up against the St. Thomas Bobcats. The Banyans ultimately fell 84-85 at the buzzer, ending their 4-game winning streak.
The Banyans ultimate downfall was their struggles on the offensive end in the first half. The Banyans had their lowest offensive efficiency in four games in half number one, converting on 42% of their shots from the field and 20% of their shots from deep.
Although they struggled from the field, the Banyans played well on the defensive end and limited their turnovers, giving the ball away on only three possessions in the first half.
The Banyan offense came back to life in the second half. New College doubled their offensive efficiency in half two, knocking down 62% of their field goal attempts, and a scorching 71% of their shots from beyond the arc.
The Banyans were also a perfect 10 for 10 from the free throw line in the half, helping them outscore the Bobcats 48-39 in the frame.
Unfortunately, the Banyans late surge wasn't enough to finish the comeback, as New College fell 84-85 on a layup at the buzzer.
Charlie Yoder led the Banyans offensively, scoring 22 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Jordan Clark finished with 20 points and a team-leading three assists.
Jack Scott and
