SARASOTA, Fla. - NCF Women's Soccer took a 1-0 lead into halftime Wednesday against St. Thomas but was unable to finish off a senior day victory as the Bobcats rallied in the second half to beat the Mighty Banyans 2-1.
Senior
Naomi Woerner gave NCF a 1-0 lead in the first half as she scored her team-leading fifth goal of the year off an assist from
Tereza Cerna at the 41:28 mark.
That lead would stand until the 63:39 mark when Natalie Nyberg scored to tie the game.
Nyberg would strike once again at the 77:42 mark, cashing in a header that served as the game-winner.
Despite the loss, freshman goaltender and two-time defending Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week
Avaya Wright was once again outstanding as she made 16 saves for the Banyans.
NCF will return to action Saturday in Lakeland when it takes on No. 24 Southeastern at 7 p.m. EST.
