NCF Volleyball fell 3-0 to St. Thomas in Miami Gardens Saturday, playing in front of over 2,000 fans, as the No. 14 ranked Bobcats attempted to break the NAIA attendance record.
The Mighty Banyans posted more kills than the Bobcats (36-35), but made 25 attack errors while the Bobcats committed just 10.
NCF also had eight service errors to the Bobcats' three.
The Mighty Banyans dropped the first set 25-17 and then fell 25-19 in the second set to fall into a 0-2 hole.
After falling behind 8-3 in the third set, NCF used an 8-2 run to go ahead 11-10, but from there, St. Thomas outscored the Mighty Banyans 15-6 to win the set 25-17 and finish off the sweep.
Jayleen Santiago led NCF with 17 kills,
Rafaela Domingos posted a team-leading 32 assists while
Maria Luiza Barreis led the Mighty Banyans' defensive efforts with 11 digs.
The win for the Bobcats gave St. Thomas a regular season sweep of NCF, as it also swept the Mighty Banyans on Sept. 20 at SCF-Bradenton.
With the loss, NCF falls to 13-4 overall on the year and 8-4 in Sun Conference play.
NCF will be back in action Monday when it travels to Temple Terrace to take on Florida College in a 7 p.m. EST non-conference match.
