NCF Women's Basketball suffered its first loss of the season Saturday, falling on the road 71-61 to Florida National despite outrebounding the Conquistadors 35-32.
The Mighty Banyans took a 15-13 lead after one quarter of play Saturday, but FNU answered by outscoring NCF 27-11 in the second half to take a 40-26 lead into halftime.
FNU grew its lead to 55-40 after three quarters of play, which allowed it to hold off NCF despite the Mighty Banyans outscoring the Conquistadors 26-21.
Gwen Tsoukalas and
Julia Pacheco each scored 14 points to lead NCF, while
Sania Thomas (11) and
Tatiana Jackson (10) also finished in double figures.
Jackson added a team-high seven rebounds and also led the team with four assists.
NCF (1-1) will be back in action Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. EST contest with Beacon College.
