BRADENTON, Fla. - NCF Men's Basketball suffered a 96-80 home loss to non-conference foe Goshen College Monday to fall to 5-6 overall on the season.
The Mighty Banyans opened the contest on a 9-0 run, but from there the Maple Leafs outscored NCF 48-24 to take a 48-33 lead into halftime.
NCF cut Goshen's lead back to single-digits early in the second half, but the comeback effort fell short as the Maple Leafs rallied to outscore the Mighty Banyans 48-47 in the half and leave town with a 16-point road win.
Shawn Lefresne led the Mighty Banyans with 23 points. He was joined in double figures by
Diego Eslava (19) and
Giovanni Toscanini (15).
Lefresne led NCF with eight rebounds and five assists, both Toscanini and
Carlin Gelin picked up a team-high two steals, while
Zach Close, Lefresne and
Ben Walker recorded a block.
The Mighty Banyans will be back in action Tuesday for a 4:00 p.m. EST game against Spring Arbor in its final game before winter break.
