THOMASVILLE GA. - NCF Women's Soccer fell 3-1 to Thomas University Saturday in its 2025 season opener and in the first match of its Labor Day Weekend trip to the Peach State.
After neither team found the back of the net in the opening half, Thomas opened the scoring at the 47:35 mark as Sasha Manders scored for the Night Hawks.
Pearl Mortimer added a second goal for the Nighthawks at the 55:05 mark to make it 2-0, but NCF pulled back within one at the 78:54 mark after an own goal from Thomas.
The comeback effort would fall short, however, as Thomas' Matthildur Traustadottir added an insurance goal at the 88:42 mark.
Freshman goaltender Avaya Wright made two saves in net for NCF in her collegiate debut while fellow freshman Jessie Dreiling attempted the lone shot on goal for NCF. Tereza Cerna and Consuelo Di Maria each fired off a shot attempt in the loss.
The Mighty Banyans will be back in action on Monday for their second and final match in Thomasville, taking on the University of Mobile at 11 a.m. EST.
