SARAOSTA, FLA. - NCF Women's Soccer held its own against No. 1 ranked Keiser Friday but fell short losing 4-0 at the NCF Bayfront.
Keiser broke a scoreless tie at the 24:18 mark in the first half as Lauren Riley scored her third goal of the season for the Seahawks.
Before the half, Ruby Vernon scored her second goal of the season at the 37:00 mark to make it 2-0.
Keiser would strike twice more in the second half as Nynka Rucker scored her second goal of the season at the 66:31 mark and Valeria Schiavo scored her first goal of the year at the 86:39.
Despite allowing four goals, NCF sophomore goaltender
Maria Schatzl held up well in her first start of the season, logging nine saves.
Annika Maringer and
Tereza Cerna fired off shots on goal for the Mighty Banyans but could not find the back of the net.
With the loss, NCF drops to 1-7-0 on the season. It will welcome Keiser back to the NCF Bayfront on Oct. 1 in what will be considered a Sun Conference contest.
The Mighty Banyans will host Warner next Saturday at 2 p.m. EST in its Sun Conference opener.Â
