NCF Women's Basketball outplayed conference foe Warner on the road in Lake Wales for three quarters Saturday, but a third quarter explosion from the Royals proved too much to overcome as the Mighty Banyans fell 58-51.
NCF jumped out to a 13-12 lead after one quarter of play and pushed its lead to two at 25-23 by halftime.
In the third quarter, the Royals seized momentum as it outscored the Mighty Banyans 26-10 to take a 49-35 lead into the fourth quarter.
NCF outscored Warner 16-9 in the fourth quarter, cutting the Royals' lead down to possessions at 57-51 in the final minute, but the comeback effort proved too little too late as Warner closed out the Mighty Banyans.
Gwen Tsoukalas led the Mighty Banyans with 13 points and was joined in double figures by
Tatiana Jackson with 10 points.
With the loss, NCF is now 7-9 overall on the season and 0-7 in Sun Conference play.
Julia Pacheco grabbed a team-high six rebounds for NCF,
Sania Thomas dished a team-high three assists,
CiCi Moore blocked a team-high three shots and Jackson picked up a team-leading three steals.
The Mighty Banyans will be back in action Wednesday in Miami Gardens when it takes on Sun Conference foe St. Thomas. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. EST.
