NCF Women's Basketball suffered a 76-48 road loss to Sun Conference leading St. Thomas Wednesday in Miami Gardens.
The Mighty Banyans kept the first-place Bobcats close through one quarter as St. Thomas took a narrow 14-12 lead into the second, but used a 21-8 second quarter run to take a 35-20 lead into halftime.
NCF entered the fourth quarter down 60-27 and despite outscoring the Bobcats 21-16 in the fourth quarter, left Miami Gardens with the loss.
Halle Shelt led NCF with 13 points, shooting an impressive 3-for-5 from three-point range. She was joined in double figures by
Gwen Tsoukalas with 11 points.
Sania Thomas pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds,
Julia Pacheco finished tied with Shelt,
Camila Zbynski and
Ty'Nazia Smith with a team-high three assists and with Thomas for a team-leading two blocks, while Â
Eihlan Fitch picked up a team-high two steals.
The Mighty Banyans are now 7-10 on the season and 0-8 in Sun Conference play.
NCF will be back in action next Wednesday when it visits Ave Maria for a 5:30 p.m. EST matchup.
