BRADENTON, Fla. - NCF Men's Basketball fell 88-80 at home to non-conference foe Florida College as the Falcons completed a regular season sweep of the Mighty Banyans.
The Mighty Banyans and Falcons went back and forth, exchanging the lead in the first half, leading to a tight 49-47 score in favor of Florida College at the half.
Florida College was able to seize control in the second half as it outscored NCF 39-33 to leave town with a six-point win.
NCF was led in scoring by freshman
Benett Edwards, who scored a career-high 22 points. He was joined in double figures by
Shawn Lefresne (14),
Jonathan Olodude (14) and
Ben Walker (14).
Lefresne fell just short of a triple-double as he dished a team-high nine assists and grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds. While on his career night, Edwards added seven rebounds and dished out four assists.
Lefresne, Olodude and Walker each picked up two steals while Edwards picked up the Mighty Banyans lone block of the game.
With the loss, NCF is now 5-14 overall on the season. It will be back in action Wednesday at No. 5 Ave Maria with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
