BRADENTON, Fla. - NCF Baseball finished off an opening weekend series victory over Saint Xavier with a 3-2 victory at IMG Academy Sunday.

The Mighty Banyans jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as in the bottom of the first, Patrick Fink lifted a sac-fly and Matt Merk delivered an RBI single.

Saint Xavier would even things up in the top of the third, plating two runs, but in the bottom of the fourth, NCF re-gained the lead as Antwan Jackson Jr. ripped a clutch two-out RBI double to make it 3-2.

From there, Corbin Gilmore (2.2) and Ty Robertson (0.2) shut down the Cougars to finish off the 3-2 victory and series win

Now 3-1 on the season, NCF will be back in action next Saturday to open a four-game series with Fort Lauderdale, with Game 1 of a Saturday doubleheader slated for 3 p.m. EST.
