SARASOTA, Fla. - NCF Softball opened its 2026 season on a winning note Friday, taking both games of a doubleheader with Baptist University of Florida, winning Game 1 in five innings 10-2, and Game 2 10-2 in six innings.
Game 1
NCF jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in Game 1 as
Kaitlin Kohlenberg hit an RBI double,
Mackenzie Mathers hit an RBI single,
Karyna Lewis hit a two-run double and
Kelsey Harper hit an RBI single.
In the bottom of the second, NCF added on as Samatha Suarez slugged a two-run home run to make it 7-0.
With the score 8-2 in the bottom of the fifth, NCF finished things off early as Mathers lifted a sac-fly, and
Maya Moro slugged a game-ending solo shot.
In the circle,
Dani Ebert pitched 3.0 innings of scoreless ball with four strikeouts and a walk while
Sydney Rich earned the in in relief as she allowed two runs in two innings of work.
Game 2
Game 2 once again saw NCF get off to a fast start as it struck for three in the bottom of the first, as catcher
Kira McDonough hit a two-run double, and five in the bottom of the second.
With the score 8-2, Rich hit a double in the bottom of the fifth and in the bottom of the sixth, Lewis scored on an error to end the game after six.
Isabella Yazzetti tossed 5.0 innings of one-run ball, striking out four to earn in the win in the circle.
