SARASOTA, Fla. - NCF Softball swept its Saturday doubleheader from Baptist University of Florida by picking up a 14-5 Game 1 victory and 7-1 win in Game 2 to close out its opening weekend series at home against the Eagles a perfect 4-0.
Game 1
NCF quickly took control of Game 1 as it plated six in the bottom of the first highlighted by a two-run home run from
Mackenzie Mathers and an RBI double from
Tori Goodell.
With the score 6-3, NCF scored four more in the bottom of the third, highlighted by RBI doubles from Samantha  Suarez and Goddel and then scored four again in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a two-run double from
Abby Dean and RBI doubles from both
Sydney Rich and
Maya Moro
After holding the Eagles to two runs in the top of the fifth, NCF was able to close out the win via run-rule.
Game 2
NCF once again struck first in Game 2 as
Kaitlin Kohlenberg delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the first and
Kelsey Harper hit an RBI single in the bottom of the second.
With the score 5-0, NCF added two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth as Harper hit another RBI single and
Arianna Thomason lifted a sac-fly.
In the circle, Rich earned the win by tossing 6.0 innings of scoreless ball striking out 10 Eagles.
Up Next: NCF will return home Monday to host a doubleheader against Fort Lauderdale starting at 1 p.m. EST.
