SARASOTA, Fla. - NCF Women's Lacrosse took down NCAA DIII foe Saint Mary's College (Indiana) Tuesday at the NCF Bayfront in a 12-11 thriller.
After Banyans freshman Bayley Dow opened the scoring, Saint Mary's outscored NCF 7-4 for the remainder of the first half to take a 7-5 lead into halftime.
Both teams would score four times in the third as the Belles took an 11-9 lead into the fourth but from there, the Mighty Banyans' defense was lights out while on offense, back-to-back goals from Dow tied the game and with 7:47 remaining,
Ashley Palmer scored off an assist from
Tierra Tryon for what proved to be the game-winner
Dow scored a team-high four goals for NCF, while Palmer added three,
Bella Bradshaw and
Makayla Hardware scored two and
Hannah Picott scored one.
Tyron dished a team-leading two assists while Hardware also added one.
Bradshaw led NCF with seven ground balls while Picott earned a team-high eight draw controls.
In net, freshman goaltender made a young-career high 15 saves, including three in the fourth quarter and saving the would-be game-tying shot with 35 seconds left to play.
The Mighty Banynas are now 2-4 on the season and will continue its five-game homestand Friday when it hosts Malone University at 3 p.m. EST.
