NCF Softball Swept At RV Coastal Georgia

NCF Softball was swept in a three-game road series at RV Coastal Georgia Tuesday and Wednesday, dropping Game 1 11-3 and Game 2 4-0 Tuesday and then falling

With the losses, the Mighty Banyans are now 18-11 overall on the season and 3-6 in Sun Conference play.
Game 1

New College struck first but could not hold on in the series opener.

The Banyans opened the scoring in the second inning as Tori Goodell doubled to bring home Mackenzie Mathers and Karyna Lewis to give NCF an early 2-0 lead.
Coastal Georgia answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead to 2-1.

New College added to its lead in the fourth when Goodell reached on an error, allowing Mathers to score and extend the advantage to 3-1.

Coastal Georgia responded in the bottom of the fourth, taking the lead with a four-run inning to move in front 5-3.

The Mariners broke the game open in the fifth, scoring six runs to extend the lead and put the game out of reach and allowing the run-rule to take effect.
New College finished with four hits in the contest. Mathers led the way with two hits and two runs scored.
Game 2
New College was held scoreless as Coastal Georgia secured the series win with a 4-0 victory in game two.

Coastal Georgia took the lead in the first inning and added another run in the third to extend the advantage.

The Mariners added two more runs in the fifth inning to push the lead to 4-0.

New College was limited offensively, recording three hits in the contest. Lewis and Samantha Suarez each recorded hits, with Suarez picking up two.
In the circle, Isabella Yazzetti went the distance, allowing four runs, two earned, over six innings while striking out one.
Game 3

New College opened the scoring early but could not keep pace as Coastal Georgia completed the sweep with an 11-1 victory in the series finale Wednesday.

The Banyans struck first in the opening inning as Mathers singled to score Lewis and give New College a 1-0 lead.
Coastal Georgia answered in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game before taking control in the second inning with a seven-run frame to move in front 8-1.

The Mariners added to their lead in the fourth inning with a three-run home run from McKenzie Collins to extend the advantage and run-rule to take effect after NCF was held in check in the top of the fifth.

New College finished with four hits in the contest. Mathers led the way with two hits and an RBI, while Lewis and Rylie Harwood each added a hit.
Up Next: NCF will welcome Warner to campus for a three-game series with Game 1 slated for 3 p.m. EST Friday and Games 2 and 3 set for 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday.
