MATCH NOTES

ROUND 1: Wednesday's match will mark the first meeting between New College and Florida Poly. The Phoenix are competing in their inaugural season of men's soccer. The two teams will meet again on Sept. 19 at NCF Bayfront Field.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN: NCF will play its second consecutive road match to begin the season. The Mighty Banyans opened the campaign Saturday in Montgomery, Alabama, and will now make the trip to Lakeland.

STRUCK FIRST: Ducamel Jeannestin scored NCF's first goal of the 2026 season in the 27th minute against Faulkner, giving the Mighty Banyans an early 1-0 lead. The junior entered the season after scoring 13 goals and earning Second-Team All-Sun Conference honors in 2025.

MAKING AN IMPACT: Newcomer Micah Nelson made an immediate contribution in his NCF debut, assisting Jeannestin's opening goal. Nelson also recorded one of the Mighty Banyans' two shots on goal in the match.

STRONG BETWEEN THE POSTS: Cooper Kambak recorded 11 saves in his first career start as a Mighty Banyan. The sophomore kept NCF level deep into the second half despite Faulkner placing 13 of its 21 shots on goal.

BATTLING TO THE END: NCF remained either tied or ahead for the opening 83 minutes against a Faulkner team receiving votes in the preseason NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll. After falling behind late, the Mighty Banyans earned two corner kicks over the final seven minutes while searching for an equalizer.

HISTORIC START FOR THE PHOENIX: Florida Poly enters Wednesday's match with a 1-0 record after defeating Webber International 4-0 at home in the first match in program history. Wednesday will be the Phoenix's second consecutive home contest.

UP NEXT: NCF will travel to Lawrenceville, Georgia, to take on No. 5 Georgia Gwinnett on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 2 p.m.
