NCF Men's And Women's Tennis To Take On Midland In Lake Nona

Fresh off a trip to Lakeland Monday, NCF Men's and Women's Tennis will be back in action Wednesday when it takes on Midland University in Lake Nona at 11:30 a.m. EST.

The men will be looking to make it a 2-0 week, while the women will be seeking to snap a five-match skid.

  • NCF Men's Tennis picked up a huge victory Monday in Lakeland, defeating No. 15 ranked Oakland City 6-1 in a neutral-site contest. The NCF Women fell 6-1 to Oakland City's No. 24 ranked women's team.
  • The NCF men dominated their way to an upset win as it earned the doubles point by winning two out of three doubles matches, as in the No. 1 spot, Konstantin Kukaras and Pedro Lemos earned a 6-3 victory and in the No. 3 spot, Timothy Phung and Carlos Quinones earned a 6-4 victory to give NCF the 1-0 edge. In singles play, NCF went 5-1 as Phung in the No. 1 spot, Quinones in the No. 2 spot, Hugo Fidler in the No. 3 spot, Lemos in the No. 5 spot and Patrick Janikian in the No. 6 spot all earned victories. Janikian's three-set victory over Louki Nivarlet served as the clinching point.
  • On the women's side, the Mighty Banyans earned a win in doubles play. Madeleine Chellas and Emilia Schulte picked up a victory in the No. 1 doubles match, but Alexandra Sibrikova and Gia Rizzo fell in the No. 2 doubles match, while the short-handed Banyans were forced to forfeit the third doubles match, giving Oakland City the point. In singles play, NCF earned its lone point as Schulte picked up a win in the No. 2 spot taking down Berta Ladaga Auge in straight sets but Chellas in the No. 1 spot, Sibrikova in the No. 3 spot and Rizzo in the No. 4 spot all lost while the Mighty Banyans had to forfeit in the No. 5 and 6 spots allowing the Mighty Oaks to take five singles points and earn a 6-1 overall victory.
  • Midland University's men enter Wednesday 2-5 while the Midland women are 2-2 on the season.
