SARASOTA, Fla. - New College of Florida women's soccer senior Naomi Woerner was named The Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday following her record-setting performance in the Mighty Banyans' season opener.
Woerner recorded the first hat trick of her NCF career to lead the Mighty Banyans to a historic 16-0 victory over Florida Polytechnic University at NCF Bayfront.
The Augsburg, Germany, native scored on three of her four shots on goal while finishing the match with seven total shots. She scored twice during the opening half before completing the hat trick early in the second half.
Woerner's three goals established a new NCF single-game program record. Her third goal also moved her into sole possession of the program's career goals record with nine.
The senior forward is the first Mighty Banyan to earn Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors in program history. It is also the first weekly conference award of Woerner's NCF career.
NCF returns to action Tuesday when it welcomes Florida National University to NCF Bayfront for a 4 p.m. match.
