New College of Florida Men's and Women's Cross Country will return to action Friday at the St. Thomas University Bobcat Invitational in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Competition is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. as the Mighty Banyans look to build on a historic season-opening performance at the South Florida State College Panther XC Invitational.

RACE NOTES
HISTORIC START: The NCF men claimed the first team title in program history at the Panther XC Invitational, finishing with 19 points and placing six runners among the top seven individual finishers.
FIRST TO THE FINISH: Junior Cole Fleming won the men's 5K in his Mighty Banyan debut, becoming the first individual race winner in program history. Fleming led NCF's six medalists as the Mighty Banyans recorded a 1:03.90 spread among their scoring runners.
WEEKLY HONORS: Fleming was named Sun Conference Men's Runner of the Week following his individual victory and NCF's team championship. Freshman Mireille Gomez earned Sun Conference Women's Runner of the Week after placing second in her collegiate debut.
MAKING HISTORY: Gomez's runner-up finish marked the best individual performance in NCF women's cross country history and made her the program's first women's race medalist.
TOP-10 TANDEM: Sophomore Arianna Childs joined Gomez inside the women's top 10, placing ninth in the season opener. Their performances helped the Mighty Banyans finish fourth in the team standings.
DEPTH ON DISPLAY: NCF placed 13 of its 17 runners inside the top 20 at the Panther XC Invitational. The men produced six of the top seven finishers, while the women placed two runners among the top 10.
UP NEXT: NCF will return to action Friday, Sept. 18, at the Florida State XC Invitational at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida. Competition is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
