NCF Women's Soccer freshman goaltender
Avaya Wright earned her second straight Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week Award Monday after another stellar performance in the Mighty Banyans' 1-1 draw with defending NAIA National Champion and No. 11 ranked SCAD Savannah last Saturday.
Wright allowed an early goal against the Bees in the 1-1 draw, but from there turned away the defending national champion with eight saves, including seven in the second half, to help NCF lead Savannah with the draw.
Her performance comes after she made a program single-match record 19 saves in a 2-0 loss to No. 1 Keiser and had five saves in a win at Webber to earn her first Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week Award on Oct. 6.
On the season, Wright has saved 75.7% of the shots she's faced, coming away with 56 saves.
Wright and the Mighty Banyans will host St. Thomas Wednesday afternoon.
