SARASOTA, FLA. - First-year NCF softball head coach Corbin Weeks, who comes to Sarasota after posting a 64-35 record in two seasons leading Montreat College, has announced his debut Mighty Banyans coaching staff.

The staff features Cheyenne Nunez, who returns for her third season with the program, returning as the Mighty Banyans' top assistant and varsity reserve leader, Mandy Schuerman as pitching coach, Hollie Cunningham as an assistant coach and D'Lani Navarro as a student assistant.

"I am thankful that we have been able to put together a comprehensive coaching staff that will serve our program well," Weeks said. "These individuals have a plethora of playing and coaching experience, but ultimately, they share our passion for making NCF Softball a national contender."
Cheyenne Nunez (Assistant Coach)

Nunez has been a staple of NCF's Softball staff since its debut season of 2024 and returns for her third season with the program as an assistant coach.

Nunez played two seasons for State College of Florida, where she was named SCF's 2018-19 Female Athlete of the Year.

In her career at SCF, she posted a .364 batting average, and in 2019 led the team in hits (67) and set a team record for stolen bases in a single season with 38.

Her award-winning 2019 season put her atop the all-time record for steals at State College (61). She was named First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-State in addition to winning SCF's Female Athlete of the Year Award.

Nunez went on to play one season at the University of South Carolina Upstate at the NCAA DI level.

Coach Nunez earned her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from the University of South Florida in 2021.

Before arriving at NCF, she previously served as an assistant coach at SCF for two seasons.

She will oversee the varsity reserve program and all softball operations under Weeks.
Mandy Schuerman (Pitching Coach)

Schuerman enters her first season as NCF's pitching coach after previous coaching stints at NCAA DI programs Presbyterian and  Florida International, as well as SCF where she served as head coach.

The Riverview, Florida native had a decorated playing career at the University of Florida, where she was named the 2002 SEC Co-Freshman of the Year, a 2002 Second-Team All-SEC honoree, and in both 2003 and 2004 was voted a team captain.

She finished her career as a Gator having posted a 3.01 ERA, 17-16 record, and with 144 career strikeouts in the circle, while at the plate she posted a .252 career batting average with 10 home runs and 46 RBI's.
Hollie Cunningham (Assistant Coach)

Cunningham, a native of Boise, Idaho, started her playing career at Walla Walla Community College in Walla Walla, Washington, where she spent the 2020 and 2021 seasons and was a first-team Northwest Athletic Conference honoree.

She then transferred to Montreat College, where she spent three seasons with Weeks.

In 2024, she stole 13 bases and made 33 starts, while in 2025, she was named a Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete and Appalachian Athletic Conference All-Academic Team honoree.

Cunningham will work with NCF's outfielders and slap hitters.
